Organized by GitHub between July 16th and September 22nd, For the Love of Code is a global hackathon for developers to build fun projects, and one of the categories include web games.
That idea you’ve been sitting on? The domain you bought at 2AM? A silly or serious side project? This summer, we invite you to build it — for the joy, for the vibes, For the Love of Code.
Winning entries from each category will be featured in the GitHub blog post and will get Copilot Pro+ for a year. The available categories are:
- Buttons, beeps, and blinkenlights
- Agents of change
- Terminal talent
- Game on
- World wide wonders
- Everything but the kitchen sink
The most interesting category for us is of course number 4, the description encourages experimenting:
Code is your controller. Build something playable, puzzling, or just plain fun. This category is for interactive experiences of all kinds, like prototyping a game idea, remixing mechanics, or mashing up genres. Think nostalgic, clever, or completely original. Fun first, functional close behind.
Submissions will be judged by a panel of GitHub Stars and Campus Experts, and the results will be announced on October 22nd. Using GitHub Copilot is not mandatory, but encouraged. Check out the official announcement for all the details if you’re interested in participating.
