Winners of the thirteenth edition of the yearly online js13kGames competition for web game developers building games that fit into a 13 kilobyte zip packages each were announced a few days ago.
Beside the overall results, the best Mobile optimized entries were picked, and also WebXR ones where folks were creating games for virtual reality headsets. Two days later the Decentralized category results were also published, containing rankings of four optional challenges.
Games were judged based on given criteria and how well they implemented those: Innovation, Theme, Gameplay, Graphics, Audio, and Controls – you can see a full list of top criteria standings as well.
If you’re curious how all the games were built just remember all the sources are hosted on GitHub and folks often write Post Mortems explaining how their development of a given entry went, the issues and lessons learned.
On top of all that, you can also listen to the js13kGames 2024 Community Soundtrack.
