A few days before the thirteenth edition of js13kGames starts on August 13th, the most popular micro-library used in the competition made by Steven Lambert, Kontra, was updated to version 10.
There are some breaking changes in this release:
- seedRand: no longer returns rand as a function but instead modifies the seed
- tileEngine: frameMargin renamed to margin and means margin around the tilesheet
You can check the details of new and updated features, and bug fixes, in the Kontra v10 release notes. If you’d like to start using Kontra in the upcoming competition, there’s a very good intro tutorial about building an Asteroids game.
