Gamedev.js Jam 2025 start and theme announcement!

Sixth yearly edition of the online competition for web game developers just started! Join Gamedev.js Jam 2025 on Itch – you have exactly 13 days between April 13th, 5 PM CET and April 26th, 5 PM CET to build an HTML5 game and win cool prizes in the process!

Theme

This year’s theme is… BALANCE!

Gamedev.js Jam 2025 theme: Balance

As always you are free to interpret it however you like. Balance can mean physical equilibrium on a scale, or stability during sports. It could be you bank account’s balance, or mental steadiness. Your entry can focus on physical balancing, resource management, combat balance, moral or life balance, symmetry and aesthetics, ecological balance, or even controlling two things at once.

Balance is a versatile theme and can inspire a wide range of creative interpretations!

Prizes

A long list of prizes for the overall winners, top entries in each criteria, and challenges:

  • V Shaders Challenge prize pool: $12 000*
  • Open Source Challenge prize pool: 5 GitHub Copilot Pro plans
  • Build it with Phaser Challenge prize pool: $1000 and 10 Vampire Survivors bundles
  • $NOODS Challenge prize pool: $1 000*

The first are decided by participants themselves in a public voting, and the last are picked by dedicated experts.

They are more than happy to play your entries and give you valuable feedback.
